About Maxx

I'm known in the motorcycling community as Mad Maxx. I got the moniker in 1984 from my reaction to another rider, whom I never met before, nor have seen again, who decided to ride directly along side of me in my lane while traveling down a 6-lane highway with a few of my friends in LA, CA. After telling him to get out of my space the first time, then explaining to him he would be forced out the second time, he got within a foot of me in the lane, I pulled back my right leg and kicked him three lanes over! When we got to our destination, one of the guys said "Who do you think you are...Mad Max or something?!" Thirty years later, it still sticks. Even though I've had a few surgeries to that knee (NOT motorcycle related!) I still raise that boot to threaten the (not so) occasional distracted driver when violating my buffer zone, and have not been afraid to use it.

I have been an ABATE member, in at least the State I was living in at the time, since May, 1983. I've been an overly active member of ABATE of IL since 1991, first with the DuKane chapter, spending 2 years as Activities Director, then being a charter member of Southern DuPage chapter (1997) and then chartering with Will County Chapter in 2003. I've been a Board member of Will Co Chapter for all but 4 of those years. I have also been involved at the State level, not only as the Board of Director's Rep. for my chapter, but as a Regional Trustee for our State PAC and as a Bylaw Committee member.

Not only do I keep myself busy with my motorcycling activities, I do have other interests... I have been actively singing at Karaoke venues for nearly 10 years, as well as the occasional stage guest appearance with a few local bands. My widespread repertoire includes tunes from early 50's rock & Country, R&B, and big band, all the way to more current Rock, country and pop (sorry, no hip-hop or rap!) with such notables as Neil Diamond, John Denver, RandyTravis, Dean Martin, Deep Purple, Aerosmith, Prince, Al Green, Queen, and even Ceelo Green!

Another passion of mine is Sports. I used to race motorcycles, whether road racing or flat-tracking while I was in Cali, drag racing, or Hare Scrambles and desert racing off-road. Though my years of competiton are over, I still get out to watch what more local races I can get to. I've ridden to Peoria for the TT's, Springfield for the miles (meet me at turn 1 for some of the best viewing!), Indy for the MotoGP, and have stayed in Joliet for the drags.
